The Secrets Behind The 20min Press Release Result…

Now, as promised I’ve put together a couple of short videos walking you all through the steps I used to get a live radio interview within 20mins of the press releases’ distribution.

So just to remind you all….

The challenge was this:
1. Send out a press release following the formula outlined in the Renegade Publicist course
2. The media contacts I sent the release to where not to be on my personal rolodex (in effect a cold list).
3. It had to be on a topic I am not a known “expert” on.
4. I had to receive a call from a journalist to book an interview (radio, tv or print) within an hour.

Now.. the topic I chose to focus on was ‘Politics’, as it’s about as far away from my ’skill set’ as possible… I did however tie it back into something I know, ‘marketing’ - that’s one of the biggest secrets to getting media exposure consistently..

You have to continually find links between the topical news issues and your skills.

With the upcoming Australian federal election being the talk of the moment, all I had to do was find a link and an angle that would interest a journalist.

The angle and headline that I came up with was - Is Kevin Rudd The Smartest Marketer in Politics?

So how did I get it into the hands of a journalist in a way that ensured;

  • It hit his desk immediately;
  • It didn’t get thrown straight in the trash;
  • It made him pick up the phone and call;
  • All in under 20 mins?

I Just Had To Share This Really ‘SuperAwesome’ Publicity Story

I just had to post this quick email I just shared with the members of the inner-circle.

Now, a few so called ‘business experts’ laughed at me when I told them my Renegade Publicist course can get anybody exposure in the media in under 1 hour… BUT when I did it today in UNDER 20mins….

Now, I was putting my balls on the line here.. Pardon the French, but I was… It was either going to work or blow up in my face….

And boy did it work!

I received my first call for a live radio interview within 20mins of the release going out to the media.

Yep, I sent out the release at 8:17 and just 1,200 seconds later my mobile phone rang with a hungry producer wanting me to discuss the topic live on air.

I don’t know what more proof these “so called experts” (and you for that matter) need, to realise that this publicity stuff actually works.

I sat down, wrote a press release following the formula in the Renegade Publicist course, sent it out and within 20mins I had FREE media exposure on Perth’s largest radio station - all on a topic I know nothing about.

How to SUCCEED at Publicity…

I just thought I’d share a recent bit of media exposure I’ve received recently.

It was a full page article in Australia’s newest personal development magazine for progressive people - SUCCEED.

Now this isn’t to show off, but to show you what’s possible when you apply the lessons and tips I want to share with you…

So how’d I get the exposure? Well it’s funny that you ask… See the darnedest thing happened… One day I stumbled upon the magazine, and thought I’d do something that’s vary rarely done in this world of email and txt messages… I decided to go out on a limb pick up a real life telephone, and actually give the publishers a call.

And guess what happened… Yep… They also had a telephone, and they answered it when it rang - Then a normal conversation occurred, and low and behold, a few weeks later an article about me appeared in their magazine.

That’s it… no press release, no tricky angle or pitch… just a conversation person to person.
